We are creative thinkers, industrial designers, and makers! Our intent for this Bungie RFP response is to highlight these unique capabilities alongside the ease of designing and delivering workspaces together with the Bungie project team and your partners. Our ability to curate spaces with a blend of custom “made for you” furniture options, supported by manufacturer ready-to-order options, and open line ancillary is truly unique because of the Studio Other and Western Office partnership. We offer you the largest range of possibilities for procuring furniture that is in time, within budget, durable, and suited for your culture and the Bungie community.
We have a lot of ideas to share! BUT, we don’t have one important element, and that’s you, the client.
With that in mind, we have designed a kit of parts which work together to support a range of different user workstyles while also putting heavy focus on how the user, facilities and IT teams interact with the furniture componentry. Each of the concepts can be heavily modified, fit within your project schedule, and cover a range of cost options.
We took into consideration ease of access to the technology components your employees may use and what their daily interface with the furniture would be: plugging and unplugging cords, housing various types of cables, and the importance of mobility with flexible accessories for individual needs. We also focused on designing structures that are durable with the ability to support the weight of heavy CPU’s, multiple monitor arms, and the wear and tear of being mobile.
Working with Studio Other and Western Office is an immersive experience—we are the mind to guide you and the hands to bring life to your ideas. However, what brings our team the most fulfillment is letting you be an active participant in the creative process. We are here to say ‘yes’ to your ideas and be your partner every step of the way. We look forward to learning more about you and exceeding your expectations.

Insomniac Games enlisted our Studio Other team, along with their architect OKB, to create a workstation solution that would solve for their unique user needs. Because of the democratic nature of “Insomniacs,” the management team recognized they needed to include the employees in every step of the process. After collaborating on several design concepts with the architect and the Insomniac management team, we landed on a concept that “clicked” and prepared to present it to the population at large for feedback. Our team loaded up four Microsoft Holo lenses with augmented reality models of the workstations, reviewed and tested the AR models with 250 employees onsite at Insomniac, and took notes of the feedback we received along the way. This proved to be a quick and easy way to get real time feedback prior to building a physical mock-up of the final desk design. Therefore, when the physical mock-up was presented, we were completely confident that our co-designed solution was solving their unique user needs company-wide.
Because this was a refresh to their existing office suite, the company required a full set of workstations and private office furniture. The height-adjustable workstations featured white laminate surfaces and included light blue, cobalt and teal felt surrounds, as well as black powder coated steel built-in storage units. This system was designed to meet the unique user need of accommodating specialty equipment requirements and large computer screens, TV monitors and dev kits. Desiring an open look and feel while maintaining privacy, Studio Other designed some workstations with higher panels to achieve design requirements set forth by Insomniac.
Juno Therapeutics and Flad architects engaged Studio Other when combining their multiple locations into one headquarters located in Seattle. The 195K square foot facility mixed open workstations, lab space, and collaborative meeting rooms in nine floors of the building. Juno’s medical research is cutting edge and they wanted their office culture to reflect that within the furniture.
Together the team co-designed the space down to every detail. The conference table bases were designed to mimic the notable double helix within a human’s DNA strand. The workstations were designed in a raw steel to match the industrial bones of the core building. The reception desks had laser cut brand detailing with backlit acrylic that morphed into the building’s walls seamlessly.
As a result, Studio Other provided 657 workstations, 8 vice president stations, 5 private offices, 22 kanban meetings tables & miscellaneous storage items.
One of the project managers for Google San Francisco approached Studio Other to collaborate on some of the workstations for Google’s engineering team. She wanted something that she had never seen before, both functionally and aesthetically.
The project management team wanted the desks to be able to move around easily while concealing all the wiring within the mobile station. Studio solved for this by housing all of receptacles on the underside of the height adjustable surface with one curly cord output so that facilities would only need to plug/unplug one cord whenever they wanted to move the desks.
The engineers had grown accustom to throwing personal items and prototypes on the desk surface. They also had large CPU’s that needed to travel with the desk when re-configured.Through the co-design process Studio brainstormed storage that moved up and down with the surface and created a heavy duty caster system that the facilities team could utilize across all floor types.
Lastly, the engineers liked to collaborate with one another. But instead of booking a meeting room they would just pull up next to each other and troubleshoot an item on the workstations dual monitor arms. However, when the monitor arms only have so much flexibility they found themselves straining to see each others screens. Studio created a sliding monitor track that moved up and down the surface so that each user could have full mobility with their screens.

Western Office and Studio Other created a customized solution for this fast-moving company whose values drive their success and steer their decision making. As this client expanded their current company’s footprint, they wanted a strategic partner with a fast pace team who could keep up with their evolving needs for years to come. We worked closely with the project architect to reflect the design intent in the furniture solutions throughout this new building while spending a day with various employee user groups in a mock-up format to determine their needs and wants to perform their best work.
A culture of personalization and “being the authentic you” at work were big drivers for the furniture component of their new workspace. Our team ideated a kit-of-parts solution that reflected the company culture, worked within their budget and schedule, gave ease of access and management for the IT and Facilities departments, along with the function and aesthetic that supported the employees various work styles.

Lyell Immunopharma Case Study
By April of 2019, Studio Other, in partnership with Flad Architects, ideated and installed a custom solution for Seattle-based cellular therapy company, Lyell Immunopharma. In search of a workplace that represented their company’s core values and additionally allowed for seamless growth as their company expanded, Lyell engaged Studio Other to provide 68 custom workstations and 7 custom conference tables for their Seattle headquarters.
Later that year, the cellular therapy company had exponentially grown and embarked on a plan to multiply their reach by opening a San Francisco office. Appreciating their previous hands-on approach, Lyell again engaged the Studio Other team in re-designing a more cost-effective option for the conference tables while continuing to specify the traditional workstations that had become a part of the Lyell standard workplace branding.
Following the success of another project, Lyell’s significant growth in the Seattle market required 7 additional workstations to effortlessly integrate into their already fully-occupied floor plan. After several layout iterations, Studio Other effectively re-configured the existing product to accommodate for Lyell’s needs. The end result has led to a long-term partnership where Studio Other will continue to support the company’s need for swift turnaround in an ever-changing market, all the while embodying Lyell’s current brand and culture.

Our Punchlist Specialists provide critical final project follow-up and resolution of all compliance tasks related to contract specifications. We work with large organizations to deploy the following tools and programs related to generating buy-in, creating excitement, and conveying the client’s investment in the workstations of each user though the following processes:
- “Welcome to Your Workplace” printouts on each desk, describing the features and benefits of each solution
- IT and Ergonomic Training related to technology integration and optimal furniture adjustments
- Workstation Usability Training to show the features and benefits of each station and how to optimally adjust the furniture for ergonomic success.
Additionally, and most importantly, a strong dealer and manufacturer partnership doesn’t end once the order is placed. Whereas many companies have a separate service department, at Western Office, the same project manager involved in the main project will continue to service Stilly Valley Health Connections.
Our service does not end when our clients move in. We aim to support our clients far beyond their initial design, purchase, delivery and installation needs. We complete bespoke project close out books for large projects to assist our customers with any warranty, cleaning, maintenance or additional orders they may need.
